Since I (Durant) am a Senior, I want you
to know about Roanoke. Take a minute to check:
Money
Magazine - 5/1/02
What a great testimony of the quality of
life that Roanoke and the Valley offers to Senior citizens. If you review some
of the other links on our web site, you will see all the Things To Do, the
quality of health care, the housing that is available, how the economy will
benefit you, the low stress levels, and the low cost of living. These are all
very meaningful in our later stages of life.
The Valley has many new high rises with
elevators and patio homes with limited maintenance both in Roanoke and at Smith
Mountain Lake. One floor living does make sense. Sandy and I are available to
assist you in locating the ideal home.
There are a number of independent living and
assisted living facilities at all price ranges. A new development of continuum
of care (independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing) is underway
in Botetourt County. Home care, respite care, hospices, and memory care
facilities are also readily available. We can forward information upon
request.
For the service-minded Senior, there are
many volunteer opportunities whether of the Rescue Mission/Habitat type or
being a guide at the art museums. The city and county recreation departments
offer numerous short or long-term educational programs in many disciplines and
the arts (4 Senior Centers in the area). More formal education is available at
many area higher education facilities.
As you plan for your future, consider the
Roanoke Valley strongly. You will be glad that you did.

Working With An Agent >Active Marketing
It takes a lot more than a "For Sale" sign in the front yard, a Multiple Listing entry, and an occasional ad in the classifieds to get a home listing sold. Be sure to discuss the details of the marketing plan with the companies and real estate agents you interview about selling your home.
Real estate agents who provide high quality service will usually have a written marketing plan tailored to fit your home and your individual needs. A good marketing plan begins with pricing the home appropriately. It involves exposing your home to as many real estate professionals and qualified buyers as possible. The agent's job is to get buyers through your front door; your job is to ensure that the buyers like what they see. Top agents are very active in finding prospective buyers and in coaching sellers about how to enhance their home's presentation. There are differences in the marketing approaches of companies and individual agents, so ask for a written plan to give you a clear idea of what you can expect of your agent.
